As you all know I have many of my favorite foods but did you know that one of my most favorite things to lick off Mom’s hands is coconut oil?
Mom likes to stir fry her broccoli in it at night or her morning eggs, but my favorite part is when she puts it on her arms and legs. I LOVE to lick it off her feet. I’m not so sure she likes that part so this morning she let me lick my OWN packet of coconut oil from her favorite company Kelapo.
Mom used to blog for them and make up fun recipes for me to get the scraps but it does not matter to me. All I care about is getting some of my OWN to lick. I got some extra this morning since Mom put it on the owie growth that is not going away in between my toes since coconut oil has healing properties – now they just have to figure out how to get me from licking it off so it can actually work….
I had another great day in this land of Santa Monica! This morning I was a little tired so I let the parental units catch some extra winks but I could not take it anymore. It was a little chilly and crawling under the cave thing was just too difficult. First I went to Mom’s side but then I thought it would be so cool to wake up Dad. Maybe the dude will take me on that awesome beach walk again.
I was very quiet and went up real close – like nostril to nostril. Nothing happened (?) He just slept through or was he pretending? Again, I breathed a little harder this time making sure he knew I was gracing his presence. He was pretending cause I saw that left eye open just a little. I caught him and he knew it.
He opened his eyes and smiled, “hey Punky – what’s up?” Then he got up and wanted me to go outside. NOT! I jumped up right in his spot and pushed myself onto Mom on the bed – the ultimate payback!
Finally, they both got up and we all ate and got into the car. We finally got to that cool place again and I could sure smell the ocean. I think I got a little too excited though. I have picked up this thing called whining when I want out of the car to check out what’s going on. Also, Dad says I am getting a sas mouth every time they do something I don’t like or approve of, I just yawn and make a semi loud noise which drives him crazy….so I guess I am doing my job – the puppy is not gone yet!
Here’s me waiting to go on the walk since I walk too fast for Mom to take a picture at the ocean - hopefully one soon…
Things are just cruising along nicely this week. Dad has been busy with his Photography class and clients, Mom is preparing to be interviewed on TV, and I have been experiencing this thing called Easter. Boy do I wish I could we could have that everyday. Today all of us got up early and went for a long walk by the beach and Santa Monica Pier. I love all the attention from my fan base. I was a little frustrated that Dad would not let me run and chase these things he called rats with wings. I think they are called pigeons and they would just taunt me by walking all around me and slowly just out of leash reach.
Because of this special day, the parental units gave me a new food to try out called Nulo, which I might add is not only very healthy but also rather tasty. I hear they may be letting me have more of it. But everything has to pass mom’s test of health.
Plus I continue to get my daily dose of marrowbones, which I cannot complain about. When I nudge dad with my noise making toys he asks me if I need a baby-sitting snack? OF COURSE I DO! I am the equivalent to the canine garbage disposal. I love the snacks and treats. However, I still get into trouble if I try to do a self-service snack on the counter.
On a bummer note, my aunty Francine, at “the Day’s” that Dad nicknamed for my puppy daycare at Centinela Pet and Supplies, found a owie on my toe. Dad is making me go to see my vet Dr. Annie Hernandez at Santa Monica Pet Center tomorrow. She took good care of my predecessor the famous George. It’s a good things she’s nice and sweet since I’m like most men in that I don’t like going to the doctor. I guess I have to be thankful I have nice people watching out for my every need. I love you Aunty Francine.
OK people, sending you bunny thoughts and chocolate kisses.
Things have been sailing along great. I continue to impress the parental units and believe I have mastered the skill of manipulation. But hey, I am Perry the super dog who all love and find irresistible.
You all know I have an aficionado for toilet paper, but my new skill is to get a roll and not destroy it or run with it, but go right up to mom and drop it in front of her feet. I thought I was going to impress her and get a treat but that did not happen. I was trying to outsmart her and say ”maybe I am ready for college?” But no luck. She told me no treats for stealing toilet paper regardless of bringing it and doing the “drop.” Oh well, maybe next time.
More importantly, since I write this healthy eating puppy blog I do know it is essential to include my daily regime of exercise, good food, nice people, rest and my vitamins. Can you believe this morning the parental units forgot my vitamins? I took it upon myself and I went into the kitchen and got the bottle right off the counter and what surprised them the most was that I opened the bottle. Those big paws come in handy at times!
Finally, I continue to try and be a good boy and daily we work on my service dog training skills. Today we went to the office to clean up after mom’s open house. I was fairly good since I like the space. I cannot wait to be able to go there more and see Mom’s patients. Maybe I can become the office butler? Wow knows, but you will be there first to know and I will make sure to tell the patients to exercise, eat healthy like me and take their vitamins!
Mom went to the Natural Foods Expo West last week and got lots of treats for Dad and finally I got to try one of MY treats. It’s called “I and love and you” dog food.
What an odd name but all I have to say is I LOVE IT!
It says it’s nude food since it has no additives, preservatives, and the one I tasted was made from grass-fed meat, something Mom is always talking about so I guess now I know why she likes it! She also told Dad it has no GMO’s whatever that means.
They let me have a free go at it and then took it away – so NOT fair! I even sat and waited patiently hoping they would notice how good I was being. Finally Mom noticed gave me some extra since I had already had my dinner. Why not more? I can always eat since I’m a foodie.
After all, I don’t write this healthy eating puppy blog for nothing! I’m always up for a snack and since Mom only lets me eat healthy treats and food I’m happy when I find one that really suits my fancy and this one sure fit the bill.
Maybe I’ll get to try another of the new treats tomorrow since after all, it is St. Patrick’s Day. I think I’m too big to go to Aunt Chris’ party this year since I’m about 60 pounds more than last year but maybe Auntie Chris will send some scoobie snacks home for me.
I know, I know it has been a long time since I have graced your presence. This time it’s the parental units’ fault – THEY went to an International Conference on Diabetes in Paris. I was left, thank goodness in Los Angeles. Can you imagine me on a plane for 11 hours? Ouch! That would definitely cramp my stretching needs.
Apparently Mom learned a lot of new things to help her patients but I don’t care all that much that – she should be going to Dog Conferences since my needs are way more important!
Anyway – while they were gone I got to play with some new friends and go on lots of walks which was pretty cool. But I was very happy to see them make it home.
Apparently I’m not being as good as when they left since I overheard Dad keep saying this is how it must be when kids come back from the grandparent’s house. Let me tell you they have been on my case to practice all of my sits, stays and lay downs. They have been way too “military” with me. If I wanted to be like that I would have enrolled in the Marines.
Life around here has returned to busy with the units working all the time, school and people coming in and out…and that’s why I love the Dopart-Batchelor house. It’s never a dull moment!
I’m almost 14 months old and have decided to be a better canine being, although I do have the occasional bouts of being a troublemaker. Here’s the current report card:
1. I play nicely at Day Care with all my friends. Here is one of my favorite friends Kayden who I love hanging out with and it’s pretty cool since when humans see us they take a double look. He’s a fellow Weimie (can you tell which one is me?) who is a year older than me but I’m BIGGER than him. I wonder why that is?
2. I drop things now except for bricks since I know it makes Dad crazy. He continues to yell “drop it” and today he told me that I would be given up for adoption if I broke my teeth because he refused he have a dog with bad teeth. Now who is narcissist? He seemed pretty serious about it so I brought it to the door and dropped it for Mom to put away. I can’t be trusted with bricks.
3. I have not touched the toilet paper for at least 4 weeks. Mom is really impressed with that one.
4. I sleep in my bed all night without a peep. A few mornings ago Mom had to be up very early for a training and I got up and then went back to bed – boy, that surprised the parental units as I’m usually always up before them.
5. I get tired by 6 pm and then just lay on “my” chair – the ottoman. It’s the only one I’m allowed on in the house so I just claim it after dinner.
6. Stealing the remote controls has dissipated and they now can be left out in plain sight.
Dad says the house is slowly being restored to it’s former state and I heard Mom telling him they can see the light at the end of puppyhood. What will I do if the puppy blog is done? I guess I’d have to graduate to an adult blog but I’m not quite sure I’m ready for that. Auntie Aileen says to give me another year.
