Everyone’s on MY Schedule

punkytreatsThat’s right.  I’m up at 6 am or 5:30 like I was this morning.  NO one sleeps in at our house.  What is with these parentals?   Dad was not happy with me this morning and Mom got to sleep in a little but then I proceeded to walk up and down the hall shaking my head till she got up at 7 am.   It’s gotten to the point where Dad has to take a nap every afternoon to recover from my morning routine.

I thought it was time to check in on my current report card and needs for improvement.

The Good:

1.  I have been left outside my crate multiple times up to 5 hours without any disturbance in the house.  When Mom and Dad come home I am sitting politely in my chair or in my crate of my own accord.  I still have not graduated to full access status but hopefully soon.

2.  I have not chewed any pens for quite some time.  I never did go to pen’s anonymous but somehow I was able to get over my addiction on my own. Dad left a pen on the table this past week when I was home alone and I noticed it but decided to leave it alone since I’ve been a bit naughty in other areas (below).

3.  I continue to be loving to all those I meet (minus the squirrels) and allow every child and adult to pet and love on me when I meet them.

Needs for Improvement:

1.  I still continue to pull on the leash when we walk.  I’m not sure I will ever outgrow that one.

2.  When Mom and Dad are home (as opposed as when they are gone) I become a bit unruly and want constant attention all the time.  I still drag all the things out of my “toy chest” and string them all over the house.

3. I “stole” the new scooby snack bag my new blonde friend Debra brought last weekend (it was mine remember) and ate the entire bag in the backyard while Mom and Dad were watching one of their shows.  My dinner was delayed that night since I had more than a full tummy.

4.  I continue to bark at squirrels and dogs walking by my house (how dare they come near my domain?)

I know to the parentals it feels like I’m not improving sometimes.  Mom commented that I am 32 in human years and needed to act more mannerly – asking for my treats, letting her sleep in since it is a rare occasion and being the “show” dog that I was designed to be.  Maybe some day, but not this week.

It was a beautiful day today in Santa Monica although we are having a little pre “June Gloom” as they call it which is fine with me since it’s cooler on my walks.

Happy Memorial Day to all of you and try not to eat too much at those BBQ’s or at least save some of the treats for me.  I’m still trying to get more treats today as you can see by this picture. It’s my favorite place to sit for whatever yummy bite drops of a new recipe I can get my chops on.

Almost Christmas

IMG_3195The BIG stick in our living room with lights is entirely too tempting for me.  When the parentals get me irritated I just want to touch it and play with all the fun toys on it.  However, I did get busted with taking one of the little crystal things on the stick and Dad was quite upset and I got a time out.

Since it’s ALMOST Christmas – only 4 days and counting – I’m wondering about these pretty bags under the stick.

I’ve sniffed and looked and tried to open one but again the parentals are always on to me and I’m prevented from getting my mission accomplished.

I did get quite excited last night as Auntie Chris made a special visit to see me AND I got my own toy squirrel – also known as PITA.  She brought Dad her yearly brown bread with cream cheese but somehow I was not offered any – maybe next year.

I hear the post office is still open tomorrow so please send more gifts and treats as I have not had sufficient ones yet.  I guess I should be satisfied with less, especially since I’m much more fortunate than most so I’ll sign off for  now.

It was a pleasant 65 degrees in Santa Monica today and the rain has held up for a few days so Dad is happy with less mud on my paws.

Christmas barks from Perry!

What am I Thankful for?

photoWell first of all I am very thankful that the 1000 Thanksgiving cards are DONE and out of the house.  Licking all those envelopes was a bit much, even for my oversized lips, and I fell asleep half way through as you can see.   More importantly, I can have the parentals all to myself again, since it was crazy with all of those cards…EVERYWHERE!

The weather has gotten really cold, even for Southern California, so I am thankful for my warm blankets since I have no hair, and for Mom and Dad’s patience at night with getting up and covering me when the covers come off.  Yes I know I am very spoiled!

I am thankful for the opportunity to stop on my walks and meet complete strangers young and old.  I feel it is important to give joy to everyone we meet.

I am grateful for friends and the people who take care of me.  If it was not for them I would drive my father even crazier then I already do.

I am grateful for my family members, as my pack of peoples who love me unconditionally.

And finally, I am thankful Turkey day is fast approaching, as I will get some I am sure and then I will be THANKFUL for Christmas, as I know my stocking will be filled with TREATS, and the new toys I deserve.

Happy Thanksgiving my peeps!

I’m a Motivational Interviewing Greeter

photo-1Hello my name is Perry!

That’s right folks – I am now officially a greeter.  Though I did not get a cool vest like the greeters at Wal-Mart, I am still greeting.

Mom had a Motivational Interviewing workshop at our office yesterday and I got to welcome all the participants.  Of course I was on my bestest behavior the entire time.  I know how to have on my game face and etiquette.

I know this because when I am being polite, people compliment me on how regal and mellow I am.  Then I look at the parentals, who secretly give each other an eye roll and just laugh.  Remember, I am a show dog but at home I let my hair down.

Anyway- after the meet and greet Dad took me to the Wags because he was making the food for the meeting.  No matter how I tried to give him the sad eyes he would not let me stay home.  I am good in the kitchen and my counter surfing is getting better.  However, when Dad catches me trying to counter surf it is not his inside voice and I know I am in trouble.  I did steal a whole cube of butter last week so now that is never left out.

The rest of my week was pretty chill.  My “friend,” the squeaky squirrel, is still getting on my last nerve.  He gets me into trouble most days.  He waits in the trees on the branches and chirps at me when he wants me to bark.  Of course his favorite time to play is 6 am.  Dad just goes crazy so maybe I should put him in the crate so I can terrorize the neighborhood with my booming voice.

The best news…Christmas Kitty has not been back and that folks is a Christmas miracle.

OK, have to take a little catnap so bye for now.

I’m the King of the Chairs

Let’s face it – I like to be in charge – in charge of the house, where I sit, and my food.  Mom and Dad think they are in charge but it’s just a figment of their imaginations.  Mom had a long day and Dad was at school so I just decided to consume her entire evening and get into everything.  The highlight of the night was when part of the sheet rock in the ceiling came tumbling down and I tried to eat it.

Mom ran after me to get it and unfortunately caught up with me.  After that she put me in my crate till Dad got home.  I guess we need home repairs but I think I’m eating up the budget with my huge appetite!

Mother’s Day had LOTS of Action

It’s been a busy day – Dad had me go out and search for a Mother’s Day Card for Mom and I finally found one and here I am bringing it to her in the early hours of the morning.

Dad had to go to work today and Mom had to work at home so I got a BIG treat she’s been saving  –  a MOO! Bully Stick that’s made of grass-fed meat – gives me more of the omega 3’s I love so much.  It is a great babysitter for me while she’s getting some work done.

However, what Mom did not realize is an expected visitor was going to show up to play with me and he was so nice.  We thought he had lost his home so Mom called Santa Monica animal control and they came in 5 minutes.  Little did she know it was the neighbors’ dog Kojo.

He just wandered over since he knew I needed some play time – I guess we’ll have to invite him back since Mom knows who he is now….

First Official Puppy Bath

Dad was complaining for a “month of Sundays” as he frequently says that I smell.  Can you believe it?  I don’t think I smell but I finally made him give me a bath to stop his whining.  I was well-behaved and took it like a trooper.

However, I decided since I was good I would officially take over the chair where he frequently sits.  After all – I’m king of the house!

My New Puppy Treats

Not that I deserve any treats today since I was out of control most of the day but Mom caved.  This nice lady named Amy sent me some special treats today called Holistix – healthy dogs treats made with cranberries, apple and blueberries – she tells me I’m getting my antioxidants – anti what?

I got to the bag before her and again she snapped a picture of me as I was trying to get one – they sure are yummy.  Mom tried to make me behave while she was typing out this blog for me since I have not learned how to type yet.  She had hidden one of the biscuits on the desk and before she knew it I jumped up and got it without her knowing – too bad she took it away and I got a time out.  Hopefully I can get another one before bed….
