Happy Peaster

PerrypatioThere is a lot to celebrate this week…patio, Passover and Easter all within 7 days.

Yep – that’s right folks – our week started out with a bang and ended up on a reflection.

Monday and Tuesday Dad and Zach worked long hours and created a beautiful paver, patio which added a nice outside space for our family. What I like best about it was that unbeknownst to Dad he subconsciously color coordinated the patio to match ME…once again, it is all about me here at Casa de Perry.

Even though I only watched Dad and Zach moved over 20,000 pounds to create the nice oasis in the backyard and do some work in the front yard, it was still a workout going to and fro with all our supplies.

All in all our yard got a nice little face lift.

This year Passover fell on Good Friday and today is Easter, and Mom’s friend Lisa said it was a “happy peaster.”  Last year I had an egg hunt in the back yard, and this year my gift was being left outside my crate while the parental units went to church. Now that is what I call the good life.

Otherwise we are hanging tight here in Santa Monica and the weather was a beautiful spring 70 degree day!

Happy Easter Peeps…but don’t eat the peeps since they are a bit high in sugar.

A Letter From Doggie Camp

Hello Mother, Hello Father…_MG_0438 copy

Things here at camp are awesome!  I really did not want to write and check in since I know you still think of me as a puppy – maybe because I still act like one!

I just cannot get enough of the running around, playing with others and all the animals. When I was riding up here my traveling companions were these big rats that were also hanging out at Daneen’s to help with training – I’m not sure what that was all about but I decided to remain calm since you never know what those non-canine creatures can do.

Now, if I saw them in my yard I would have gone postal. However, it was different somehow and I was as content as could be when I got in the truck since they were my neighbors for the next hour. Dad – you would be proud of me!

I have been getting in plenty of exercise up here and don’t need the fitbit as Dad does, and Mom – you will be pleased since I am eating for healthy and not using the vacation to be off my “health vacation.”

I hope your conference at Sweet Success was good and your talks went well. I heard there were over 300 people gave a lecture to and I would have been a little more than nervous.

OK, got to get back to my running and will see you in a few days.

The weather up here in Acton is quite a warm 82 degrees. I really prefer the calm Santa Monica weather but the 22 exercise play yards here, along with my sheep, donkey, horse and pig friends is way more exciting than our small yard – hope you are enjoying your “Perry free mornings at 6 am.”

I’ll be in full force when I get home Dad so enjoy your rest now while you can.

LOVE,

Punky

They Went to The Natural Foods Expo West 2014 Without ME!!

photoI guess I should start with the good since being grateful is what it’s all about, right?  We got some much-needed rain – remember I now am the Weather Weimaraner so this is one of the first things to report.  Our yard is greener but apparently we still need more rain.  I’m just happy since it’s sunny today and 82 degrees in Santa Monica – how’s that for some post Daylight Savings time weather?  We did have a very small earthquake but it did not affect my Perry world so it was fine.

The thing I am NOT so happy about is the parentals got to go to the Natural foods Expo West in Anaheim.  Mom has gone for the past 15 years, Dad apparently does not like to go because of the crowds but Mom makes him and I WANT to go but canines are not allowed.  Can you imagine?  The biggest food show in the WORLD  and I the biggest dog foodie is NOT invited or allowed?  Close to 4000 food booths with endless treats are at that show.  I guess I should be GRATEFUL (there’s that word again) that the parentals thought of me and tried to find me some new healthy treats.

photo-2The humans at Castor & Pollux were apparently the nicest and recognized the large breed that I am and gave Mom a big bag of their Organix Jerky Chip Cookies made of oatmeal and chicken.  All I can say is double YUMMMM!!!  Here I am trying not to attack the bag and then Mom finally opened it for me.  As she’s scripting my blog for me right now I’m at her feet trying to be ultra good to get another one – the good behavior I must have for treats is unimaginable.  I know they are trying to make me a respectable dog but it’s Sunday afternoon and I need a day off.

Later People and pray for more rain in our region of the country.  I don’t want to have to contend with a brown yard since I might be camouflaged!

My Own Wrecking Ball

photo-2

Well Christmas came and went and I survived being away from the parental units.  Yep I survived…I did run a lot and lost a few pounds (Mom says I’m “insulin-sensitive vs. her and Dad being “insulin-resistant” so I lose weight quickly – once again another way canines are the preferred species).

Now I am back home eating like a champ to get my fighting weight back on since I did get a little skinny.  Unfortunately, it is not by eating junk food as Mom has a close eye on my healthy treats.

Southern California’s weather has been a bit schizophrenic with one day like summer and the next winter but it doesn’t matter since my life of luxury continues.  However, being away and sleeping in a confined space I am sure glad I am home with my big comfy chair.  I like the country but I like the comforts of home.  That said the parentals did bring me a gift, which I love, a Harry Barker toss and tug rope toy.  Mom thought it would be good for me since it’s made of cotton and is free of bad things that make canines sick.

photoWhy do I love my new toy so much?  Because apparently Dad was not thinking of the damage this toy can cause.  When I am bored I rummage through my toy box and bring toys to Dad.

I usually wait until he is on the phone or doing something important.  I then come to him running with toy in mouth and try and thrust it into his hands.  This method gets him going and he usually ends up playing tug of war, WHICH I LOVE PEOPLE!

This gets Mom a little irritated  and she usually says, “no playing in the house Jeffrey Michael.”   When the middle name is used it means trouble.  Perry 1 and Dad a big fat 0.

OK, sorry I digressed  – so they got me a rope toy with a hug ball on the end.  They thought I would just chew on the ball and Dad would pull by the handle.

Seriously?  I am all about holding onto the handle and shaking my head all around so the ball hits everything.  That’s right folks – my own wrecking ball…Miley Cyrus has nothing on me.

I do know how to behave – it’s just whether I decide to do it and how many walks Dad decides to take me on to tire me out.

Catch you after the first of the year.  Remember my 2 year old birthday is less then two weeks away so that limits your shopping days.

Peace and good Health in 2014!

Back to the Grind!

photoHello People!

Well I survived another week and we are all getting back into the groove of life.  I am missing my vacation, but enjoying all my kitchen time with the parentals as they are working on food and recipes.  I can tell the holidays are in the air because I smell all the good spices.

As always, I am ready for a snack.  Dad was trying a new recipe today for a Thanksgiving blog and I got a treat…you see an egg rolled on to the ground and I was there right away.  Of course my new nickname is Rocky Balboa and I have no idea what that is about.

photo-2Any who, Mom spoke again last week for LA Best Babies on Motivational Interviewing and Dad was finishing up pictures for our gluten free cookie book.  I just like to hang out, and when I think Dad needs a break I start barking to look for PITA and that just makes him crazy.  Let’s just say it gets his attention.

OK, I am tired and need to get going to eat my cooling diet…yep due to my poor immune system I get raw turkey, broccoli and my high in protein dog food called Nutrisca Salmon and Chickpea Recipe.  It sure does make me happy.

Peace!
