A Visit from the Cousins

IMG_4737We got a visit from the NJ Twin Cousins Drew and Coulston.  They were in Los Angeles to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum at UCLA and then came to visit us afterward.

Dad drove them to see Pepperdine and UC Santa Barbara to see if those were colleges they might be interested in.  What?  Dad took a road trip with the cousins that I was not invited to – that was not so hospitable.

I did get some extra hugs and loves but they were hardly sufficient given their short time here.

It’s been quite warm here in Santa Monica so Dad’s taken to putting fans all over the house – maybe one day we’ll actually get air conditioning in our 100 year old house.

Until next time!

Squirrel Fallon in my Mouth

PerrystaringThis week has been an awesome week PEOPLE!

I have been on the move more lately as Dad is gaining strength and started walking more. Thank goodness for Mom as she continues to walk me in the mornings, and I am trying my hardest not to pull. This becomes difficult when I see my friends and this week Boris’s Mom was walking him and I practically jolted across the street – Mom was not a happy camper.

The weather has continued to be a too hot for my liking. Today in Santa Monica it was 85 degrees with almost 80% humidity.

Even with the hot weather I have to share with you how exciting my week was. So I was hanging out by the back door looking quietly and intently at something outside. Dad opened the door and instead of bolting out as usual I went very slowly…almost crawling.

With my military style, focused eyes and stealth position, I waited and waited. Then I pranced and that stupid PITA squirrel tried to jump higher on the tree upside down and FELL right into my mouth.  I was elated for a whole second but then freaked out and that thing got away!

I knew right then that I had scarred that little fur thing because it panted and was out of breath and stood motionless in the tree.

Of course this made me bark like crazy, which in return made Dad crazy. He said something like, “Do you think that squirrel is gong to come down and jump back in your mouth?”

I was worried the squirrel was tweeting to his squirrel world to stay away from me but maybe less PITA activity in the yard is a good change of pace.

Even though it wasn’t a full capture I hope I showed that PITA whose yard it is and the score is turning….

Perry – almost 1 …PITA almost dead!

The GOP debate got heated this week – maybe even more than our house was with the humidity! I’m still the undecided voter and just enjoying all the funny interviews on Jimmy Fallon this week – it you haven’t seen the Trump and Clinton segments you’ve really missed out!

Have a great week peeps!

I had to SHARE my Turf!

IMG_2236It sure is hot in Santa Monica and I mean HOT, humid and did I say hot?

Yesterday was that godchild’s 1st Birthday and the parental’s had a party in his honor. What? When it is my birthday there is not much fanfare at all. OK, maybe a special treat, a photo and a nod on Facebook, but not a gourmet meal of recipes they are creating for the new cookbook and all the fixins.

People came from as far away as Georgia, Missouri and Italy. I of course was on my best behavior and tried to steal as much attention from the little man as I could. I decided to lie in the middle of the party and had people just walk over me. They were in MY backyard after all.  I made sure everyone could see me and ooh and aah over me versus that little person – I’m at least 3x his size so I figure that counts for something!

All in all, it was a good time and everyone enjoyed the gourmet food and satisfying conversation.

Mom has been busy with trainings, analyzing recipes and writing and Dad is still pretty sick but we are all holding tight together in this heat.

Please send your ice cubes to Santa Monica and maybe a few treats for me as well.
