I’m Growing UP

DSC01297Hello People!

Things here on the home front are pretty good. The weather has cooled down to a nice autumn crisp so on our walks we need to move a little more quickly to keep warm. The current temp this weekend is a light, cloudy 73 degrees.

Other fun things on the forefront…Dad and I spent sometime photographing fresh ginger from the Farmer’s Market as you can see from the photo I am slowly but surely becoming a better-behaved dog.  Mom says fresh ginger is good for many things besides just seasoning – it helps GERD (I’m not sure what that is but something to do with stomach issues), and morning sickness which thank goodness I will never have in my lifetime (although I do love pregnant women and babies especially).

Can you believe the door is open and I am not door dashing out like in my youth. Yep- my birthday is coming up and we all cannot believe how much time has gone by and just how quickly the months turn into years.

We have a new RD intern from Italy named Antonella and I cannot wait to meet her next week – Mom says she’s talented, pretty and knows how to cook yummy dishes so I’m all about meeting her!

All in all, thank goodness for a calm week!

The Tutu

IMG_1210The blind date did not go over very well…

Yep – the parental units decided it would be OK to bring in a “lady friend” for a visit.

As usual, it is like most weekends around here and with a lot of work and always doing something going on.

Mom and her RD intern Farah from Pepperdine needed to work on some social media business, blogs and recipes. And we all know, I like anything that sounds social and of course I long for the media attention. Farah has a dog and she was to hang out with me.

Don’t get too excited yet since it wasn’t…umm…all that fun and special.

Her name was Tutu and she was little, compact, a bit bossy and a princess-like, and it was it a long afternoon with my play date.

IMG_1218First she had this loud breathing noise, then she stole my bone and finally she got a little bossy with me.

I admit I was afraid of the Tutu and hung outside. When Dad got home I walked way around the girl who stole my bone. Look at my face in the photo folks. The Tutu had some power, and my ego-strength was lacking a bit.

Even with being thrown off today I still got my hang out time with Farah, who I love and would prefer that she just be my lady friend.

Farah also helped Mom out this week when she was interviewed for ABC Channel 7 news on camel milk. Glad I was not part of that since I think the camel would have frightened me more than Tutu. However, we know I am a complete foodie and I would have been game to try the milk.

At the end of the day Farah and Tutu left and as I watched her walk away perfectly mannered off leash she turned back and smiled. It was almost like she said, “see how cute I am and I have manners so there.”

IMG_1223Hmm…I sure have a lot to learn still. But I like that no leash thing so we’ll have to see how I convince the parental’s to let me try that sometime.

I almost forgot – the weather has been MUCH better and today it was a lovely 74 degrees in Santa Monica.

Peace!

I Am a Meatball Thief

photo-2As the rest of the country is experiencing crazy weather of the likes of snow, rain and ice, we seem to be having summer time.  I do wonder what this thing is that I have been hearing about called snow.  I have seen some pictures and it looks fun. Maybe one day the parentals will take me to play in it, if I’m good which was not the case this weekend.

Mom had a Motivational Interviewing training for the dietetic interns from Pepperdine University.  I did get to go to the office and help set up.  It was fun because as Dad would set out the pens of course I had to steal them.

I have been a little thief as of late and have had more than a few time outs.  Mom went on an appointment and of course I needed to keep Dad on his toes so I thought I would get his attention by stealing my treats off the desk.  Dad had a little bit of a melt down but I could tell he was not too upset as he was laughing at me. I am just so darn cute and irresistible it is hard for them to stay mad at me.

Then as usual I got into much more trouble.  I thought I could push my luck a little further and well…it backfired.  Dad was making meatballs and I was minding my p’s and q’s in the kitchen perfectly.

photoThen he received a phone call and got side tracked, and my golden opportunity came. I just could not resist the big bowl of warm, delicious smelling meatballs.  The next thing I know is the voice of thunder and it was not a cheerful one.

However, I did not give myself a timeout quite yet-I ran outside. I knew I was going to be having a long timeout and wanted to make sure I was not scared of the dark so I brought in a yard light. This only made Dad turn into Daddy Dearest.  I do love to get his goat.

So this week’s Italian dinner got cut short a night due to my love of meatballs,  which might be my last ever so I had to enjoy them while I could!
