No Road Trip for Me

Sorry I’ve been MIA – the parents have been busy so here’s the news:

Dad decided to venture way up north to his old stomping grounds for his 30th school class reunion and sent me off to the country. Maybe he needed a break from me, but doesn’t he realize I never need a break from him? I live for ruling this house and when he sends me away I don’t get to get under the Parentals’ skin.

Not to worry my dear ones…when I got back I gave them an extra doses of love, hugs, and annoyance. For example, this morning when I took Mom on a walk I decided I needed to share with the neighborhood by marking every few feet. I took advantage of the lush grass and I was like a dog in the candy store with green lawns. Finally, Mom got upset with me and told me the walk was not a bathroom buffet and took back control of “my” walk.

AND Mom’s new book came out 101 Ways to Control your Diabetes.  Of course I am featured in the book as I always remember to walk and eat healthfully but I guess the humans need something to remind them.

I have been pretty docile lately because it has been super-hot and all I want to do is lounge trying to find the coolest place in Casa de Perry which is a difficult thing to do right now. I do muster up the strength to bark at the annoying neighbor dog who still continues to push my buttons.

I would like to report how good I was while getting my Mani/Pedi after my return from the country. I have been trying out this new place which comes to me – hence avoiding the LA traffic. You know how I love being pampered. Detail Dog is a great service and you should give them a try.  See how good I was when Phoebe was clipping my nails.  I smelled fresh and clean after it was all said and done so I’m all ready for any summer guests!

OK, off to sit by my swamp cooler as it’s the usual 85 degrees in our house today!  I figured you had missed the Weather Weimaraner report.

Peace,

Perry

My Whirlwind Weekend

img_5068You can tell Fall has crept into Los Angeles. It is chillier in the morning and darker and Mom is happy that I’m sleeping in a little more.

Mom and I have been hanging out this weekend.  We went on an outing to see another Peri, but his one was human AND pretty.  I was hip to meet someone who almost has my name and she was thrilled to meet me too – but of course.  My only complaint was that I did NOT get a mani/pedi but I sure tried my hardest putting the charm on.  I’m not sure how color would look on my nails but I was hip to try.

We also went on a great walk…yes I still have issues with my heavy “leading” AKA “pulling.” Mom did not bring her walking sticks, which are a new thing around the house. I am wondering how she is going to walk with her new sticks AND me at the same time.

OK, the sticks are these things I have been warned not to touch. I mean come on – it’s not a magic broom. I know Halloween is coming up and that dreaded costume Dad makes me wear outside. No- these sticks are for walking, and Mom says the studies show using the sticks increase upper body strength and burn almost 30% more calories than just walking, as well as helping to reduce heart disease.

I don’t know about these studies since I burn plenty of calories just running around and my muscle mass is just fine as well as my cholesterol, thank you very much!

The best news around the Dopart-Batchelor house is the continued spring cleaning going on AND maybe that ugly Halloween costume got into the donation box.  That would be just about the best news of the season!

Love,

Perry

I Went for a Mani/Pedi

IMG-20140222-00035Things are a changing in our household and I’m not sure it is for the better.  Dad started his final semester in photography school and that means lots of time shooting this funny looking metal thing and MUCH less time with me.  He has to take pictures of HUMANS instead of CANINES and that is something I’m just not happy about – remember it’s all about ME!  We’ll see just how long he gets away with that.

Since he was at school all day yesterday, Mom was on what we call “Perry Patrol.”  Yes – Mom and I have to hang out every Saturday together from now till June.  I think she is a bit nervous since I can be a bit much (not sure why that is???)

It was time for her to go for her manicure and I heard her contemplating whether to bring me.  She got the “behave” collar on me and then gave me a lecture about behaving and said if I did not mind I would not go again…so I decided to behave.

Mom and I went off together for a mani/pedi and I finally got to meet Amber.  I had met her when I was a puppy but that was SOOO long ago since I’m a big boy now.  I was on my bestest behavior and sniffed around the salon but finally laid down and did some “waits” for snacks and even surprised myself.

photoI must have passed the behavior test since I was invited back which made me very happy.  There were lots of nice ladies, including Amber and her friend Nora, who gave me the loves and pets I so relish!!  Maybe next time Amber will consider giving ME a pedicure since my nails are getting a bit long and hopefully some of that color stuff I saw – I wanted to play with all those fun little bottles but remember I had to behave so I could come back.

Later Auntie Robin came over and you know how I’m crazy for blonds and her and Mom worked on that Motivational Interviewing stuff.  Dad came home from school and was looking at Pinterest?  I think he’s really lost it this time.

I heard we are having much-needed rain Friday so I’m sure Dad will be on my case for bringing mud in the house – I’ll report back next week.

Later people!
