Happy Independence People

IMG-20130630-01127A lot has been going on, and as usual the Dopart-Batchelor house is never a dull moment.  Mom finished teaching two Motivational Interviewing trainings at the new office.  It was cool since Dad brought me for the first few minutes to say hello to the participants.  Seems like Mom is busy this summer with lots speaking engagements.

I on the other hand have been busy with my doctor’s appointments.  I got bitten at daycare by one of my fellow canines and my neck is all red and swollen and is not getting better.  So I just keep taking my medicine and getting rest.  However, I have too many things to do and my summer calendar is full so I hope it heals soon.  I really want to have time to see my cousin Maggie.

Last night Santa Monica did their fireworks and it was pretty scary.  I was nervous and had a little panic attack.  Those things are too loud and make too much noise.   Dad could not believe that I had such a reaction because he says I am a gun dog.  Don’t know what that means since I avoid guns at all cost.

Next weekend I am going with Dad up to the grand-units in SLO.  My aunt Wendy and her boys are coming so we are all going to play together.  It should be a blast since I do love the little people.  Mom is staying home to do her work since I tend to be a bit distracting.

OK, I need to try and cool down.  We are having a little bit of a heat wave.  Stay cool people and out of trouble.

I’m Taking Charge and Getting my Vitamins

IMG-20130323-00954Things have been sailing along great.  I continue to impress the parental units and believe I have mastered the skill of manipulation.  But hey, I am Perry the super dog who all love and find irresistible.

You all know  I have an aficionado for toilet paper, but my new skill is to get a roll and not destroy it or run with it, but go right up to mom and drop it in front of her feet.  I thought I was going to impress her and get a treat but that did not happen.  I was trying to outsmart her and say  “maybe I am ready for college?”  But no luck. She told me no treats for stealing toilet paper regardless of bringing it and doing the “drop.”  Oh well, maybe next time.

More importantly, since I write this healthy eating puppy blog I do know it is essential to include my daily regime of exercise, good food, nice people, rest and my vitamins.  Can you believe this morning the parental units forgot my vitamins?  I took it upon myself and I went into the kitchen and got the bottle right off the counter and what surprised them the most was that I opened the bottle.   Those big paws come in handy at times!

Finally, I continue to try and be a good boy and daily we work on my service dog training skills.  Today we went to the office to clean up after mom’s open house.  I was fairly good since I like the space.  I cannot wait to be able to go there more and see Mom’s patients.  Maybe I can become the office butler?  Wow knows, but you will be there first to know and I will make sure to tell the patients to exercise, eat healthy like me and take their vitamins!

My Morning Puppy Routine

I have my routine – I whine till my Dad gets me out of my cage, then I gently (yeah-right) nudge him into getting me my breakfast, and by that time Mom gets home from the gym.

I try to jump on her  when she walks in the door but somehow she does not care for that type of affection.  I’m just trying to say hello so I don’t know why it bugs her so much?  BUT as soon as she walks in the kitchen I’m PERFECT.  I sit still like a little statue waiting for my vitamin.  Mom thinks they put crack in it since I can’t wait to get it.  She breaks it up into little pieces to dole it out.  Why can’t I have it ALL at once?  One of those unfair things in this household.

She gives me a little drop of fish oil on a spoon and then takes a shower.

I LOVE the shower since I sit under the heat lamp and soak all the warmth in.  And when she gets out I love to lick her toes and legs – lots of warm yummy water.  The rest of my day starts after that but somehow I wish we could repeat the morning ALL DAY LONG…

Puppy Perry LOVES his Vitamins and Omega 3’s

My Dad hates to take his vitamins and fish oil – Mom always reminds him and he gives her a look….but I LOVE my vitamins.  After Mom gets home from the gym I wait and wait till she starts making her breakfast cause I know I’ll get them if I’m good.

I heard she tells her patients to get all their omega 3’s I think called ALA, DHA, and EPA but I don’t care.  I just like to lick the lemon fish oil off the spoon and chew up the yummy vitamin.  She made me pose with them both – Carlson lemon fish oil and NuVet Plus.  I’m so sick of posing and who knows what she want to take a picture of next…..
