Nuttin For Christmas

I can’t wait for Christmas, even though it’s not quite Thanksgiving.

They say I have a “pen addiction” but they just don’t understand – I want to write to my fans and at this time of year I want to especially write to Santa.

I’ve always enjoyed crunching on a good pen or two – I especially like the red ones, since they explode nicely on my lips and it looks like I did conquer my nemesis, PITA, the squirrel.

But I really shouldn’t say that since I would be deemed naughty, and put on “The Blacklist,” the parentals new show which Dad says is intriguing, whatever that means.

So I better be good so I don’t end up like that Barry Gordon song “Nuttin’ For Christmas.”

It was a blustery day in Santa Monica, and all our lips are chapped except mine which are red as well.  I heard the parentals say I might need to go to Pen’s Anonymous but I might be the only one at the meetings, and it might be a pain in my gluteus maximus, which is small by the way.

Later folks!

Bromance

IMG_2298This week was pretty cool and awesome. One of Dad’s friends of many years moved back to town and I got to hang out with him. The last time he was here I jumped up into his lap and just soaked up the attention and affections that I so require. Don’t tell anyone but I have a little man crush on him.

Michael is pretty important to the parentals’ as he was in their wedding many years ago and was Dad’s roommate at one time. They have been buddies for 15 years and now he is mine. He is a surfer and doctor for young kids so he is cool in my books. Check out our picture!

Besides the Michael visit this week has been a little challenging for me. You know how I was bragging and all about my growing up and being good about not door dashing? Well, I had a few party fouls and got Mom and Dad all worked up.

I don’t get why they get all upset. I mean come on – I would never run away! I have it way too easy. Every once in a while I just need to stretch my legs a little. It is so ridiculously cool to run and Dad says I look like a gazelle prancing to and fro.

And it’s almost Christmas and didn’t Santa have something named Prancer? OR was it that lady who did the prancercise exercise, which is called funky Punky prancercise program.  What?  That girl stole my name?

Regardless, Dad keeps telling me I do not have automobile consciousness…whatever that means. Parent’s can be so frustrating and they need to get over themselves.

Well that is the update, oh yeah I forgot it rained pretty hard 2 nights ago and that was cool because I tracked mud into the house. Love the mud and enjoy it so much more when I can play chase in the house leaving my prints everywhere…they call that a weimcrime in my town.  Regardless we REALLY needed the rain since we’ve had NO rain.

Today’s temp is a moderate 68 degrees in Santa Monica and don’t forget to vote in the elections this Tuesday it is your Constitutional Right?

The Tutu

IMG_1210The blind date did not go over very well…

Yep – the parental units decided it would be OK to bring in a “lady friend” for a visit.

As usual, it is like most weekends around here and with a lot of work and always doing something going on.

Mom and her RD intern Farah from Pepperdine needed to work on some social media business, blogs and recipes. And we all know, I like anything that sounds social and of course I long for the media attention. Farah has a dog and she was to hang out with me.

Don’t get too excited yet since it wasn’t…umm…all that fun and special.

Her name was Tutu and she was little, compact, a bit bossy and a princess-like, and it was it a long afternoon with my play date.

IMG_1218First she had this loud breathing noise, then she stole my bone and finally she got a little bossy with me.

I admit I was afraid of the Tutu and hung outside. When Dad got home I walked way around the girl who stole my bone. Look at my face in the photo folks. The Tutu had some power, and my ego-strength was lacking a bit.

Even with being thrown off today I still got my hang out time with Farah, who I love and would prefer that she just be my lady friend.

Farah also helped Mom out this week when she was interviewed for ABC Channel 7 news on camel milk. Glad I was not part of that since I think the camel would have frightened me more than Tutu. However, we know I am a complete foodie and I would have been game to try the milk.

At the end of the day Farah and Tutu left and as I watched her walk away perfectly mannered off leash she turned back and smiled. It was almost like she said, “see how cute I am and I have manners so there.”

IMG_1223Hmm…I sure have a lot to learn still. But I like that no leash thing so we’ll have to see how I convince the parental’s to let me try that sometime.

I almost forgot – the weather has been MUCH better and today it was a lovely 74 degrees in Santa Monica.

Peace!

News Report from Santa Monica

IMG_9552Hello People!

What a crazy week and boy am I glad it is over. So many things happened and I want to share it all so I will try to be brief.

The weather in Santa Monica was so hot, it broke records and it made me crazy. I am blessed that I have no hair compared to other canines but this was even a bit much for me.

It was especially challenging this week because I had to spend extra time at my club while the parentals worked away. Little did they know I just lounged and did not exert myself too much until I got home, and then expected Dad to play with me.

It’s mostly Mom’s fault since she had to do a Motivational Interviewing Workshop in Long Beach for Memorial Care and Dad went with her so I was at my club for 11 hours and that made me crazy. I let Dad know once we got into the house by running and grabbing him to come outside and play.

On a serious note the Boles fire in Weed California this last week was very sad and lots of people lost their homes, churches, and businesses.  I know I am narcissistic so my little whines are nothing compared to these people’s tragedies. Please continue to pray for the victims and donate to help. They have nothing left but it is a strong community and they will endure.

However, that brings us to this weekend, which was totally awesome. There was a moment of time out as I was not as perfect as I should be.

The parental units are now recipe testing, and you know what that means? Yeah to more scooby snacks! I get way excited when I see food come into the house.

This weekend was really fun because cousin Barbara came over to help and she brought me a gift from “Mama Tooter.” But before I could have my gift I got into trouble because I chewed on the cousin’s purse while she had it on. Come on she was not giving me sufficient attention and I was selfish. I did get a long time out so I guess I had better be on my bestest behavior the next time she comes.

IMG_9617But, then I got let out and was good and got my cool gift. And guess what it was? My very own handmade afghan made with love. I know it is the bomb because I heard the parental units admire the color and wanted it for themselves, especially since I always steal the one that was made for them.

Rest assured that was not going to happen as I took control of the situation. I would not let them even help me untie it. I took off and ran around the yard with it in my mouth for a while so they would know not to take it away.

Also, my little buddy Zade came over to hang out today. I just love him…he has that new baby smell still …maybe I will even share my blankie with him, but that remains to be seen.  I’m a bit jealous since the parentals got asked to be his godparents but I guess I’ll have to get over myself since it means I will have a little playmate as he gets older.

OK, stay out of trouble or at least don’t get caught like I did.

Love,

Perry the Troublemaker

My Own Video Shoot

photoThus far it has been an excellent weekend. I am carefree and just being able to hang out and relax. Now of course the parental units are working away as usual so I am trying to be on my bestest behavior. Of course we will see how long that lasts.

Anywho…I got a wonderful surprise this morning when I saw Dad getting out all his camera equipment. That usually means it will be a photo shoot and I will get to be part of the activities. Plus if I get bored or do not approve I can cause havoc and that makes him spin out which is always a pleasure to watch.

Then all of a sudden I heard him ask if I was going to be a good Punky and be helpful.

What? I am going to be the talent?

It gets EVEN better since he was shooting product and it was MY FAVORITE PEOPLE, Peanut Butter! Did you hear me? Peanut Butter and a great organic one at that – Koeze’s Sweet Ella Organic Peanut Butter – Mom’s favorite! Normally I’m not allowed to eat that one unless I’m good and she gives me a lick.

photo-2You can tell I have grown up because I followed Dad’s commands and did not take the jar away to eat in privacy. It did take a long time on the set but I was patient because I was not having a spoon full – I had an entire jar just for me. I was in Peanut Butter heaven.

Then after shooting I just wanted to chill because it is really hot here in Southern California. Todays temp in Santa Monica is 83 degrees and rising.

OK, so there you have it for Perry check in.

Be safe, stay out of trouble or at least do not get caught. Apparently I always get caught but I still know I am loved.

Peace out People!

72 Hours of CRAZINESS…

photo-3Hello People!

As always I love reporting to you the good, challenging and odd things that I encounter, and here is a report of the last 72 hours of my life.

On Thursday Dad picked me up late from my club and we got home around 6:30.  Of course I was STARVING, but then again I am always hunger, so nothing new here.

For the next 3 hours it was phone calls and problem solving because a transmitter had a problem in our neighborhood and it blew out everything – and that is not even an exaggeration.

photo-2The circuit box was blown, the cable box got fried, other appliances in our home were damaged beyond repair and even the outlets needed fixing. It was so bad that people lost large appliances, and smoke was coming out of their outlets. That happened to us also when the electrician man came to help Dad fix our house.

The next day got even crazier: the computer man had to come, the cable people were here and the electricity man. The cable people had to come two days in a row because we had problems and were cut off from the world.

PEOPLE do you understand the severity? I was NOT able to communicate with all of my fans and that was beyond disappointing.

Finally, we had to go to the office to do some computer work. It was great because I love Mom’s office and I got to see lots of folks, but I did get a little bored as you can see from the photo.

Our associate and Mom’s fellow nutritionist friend Victoria Sonoda was there with her new baby Zade. As you can see Dad was giving that little thing much more attention than me and I admit I was more than a bit jealous. But I know I have the parental units hearts so I had to get over myself.

photoOK, hopefully there will be no more challenges as we are all spent and the holiday weekend seems more like a labor weekend. But we all must remember our most challenging day is perhaps another person’s best day.  I figured that out and dug out the advent calendar tonight and decided to take a nap from my long day.

Please continue to be thoughtful of those serving in the world for our freedom.

Peace!

Punky

PS – it’s been quite warm in Santa Monica and the Weather Weimaraner reports 80 degrees today. Please pray for rain as we are in a drought and soon my yard will be completely brown.

Christmas in July?

photoI am a little confused but I am OK with this confusion. I thought July was the celebration of Independence and freedom. Normally I am not a fan of the July 4th holiday as it is very loud with fireworks and even though I am a gun dog the sounds make me more then nervous.

However, this time it was better because Mom’s parental units also known as my grand units came for the weekend and we had a grand time.

Since I had never met Grandma and Grandpa D they had some catching up to do and boy did they deliver! It was Christmas every few hours. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? I got so many gifts I did not know what to do with myself.  First it started with this squeaky red toy and then it was 3 more toys ending in a toy PITA. I was good and played nicely with all the toys EXCEPT PITA so he went away – I just wish the one in the backyard would go away as well – then my life would be complete.

The other great thing that happened is we had LOTS of food, and of course I am on kitchen duty for any treat that might come my way, and I got more then my normal share. You see I know how to work any situation and I was an excellent dog. My barking was under control when strangers walked by, I did not knock this grandma over and PITA stayed away. I was top show dog and the praises continued…

As for the weather situation here in Santa Monica it has been a hot one for this holiday weekend and currently I am reporting mid 70’s, although is was over 80 in our house most of the weekend.  The parentals and grandparentals were a bit uncomfortable as we don’t have air conditioning but I think they need to toughen up like me!

Safe holiday travels to all of you.

Love Perry

I’m a Gluten-Free Dog

Hello Campers….

photoThe Punky is back from the land of sick and trying to get back to my normal self. As most of you know I was out of commission and it was a pretty itching situation. I had to go to the vet, take medicine and have socks on my feet. Not fun at all since I like being active and on the go.  It put MORE than a cramp in my Punky Style!

I overhead Dad say he was worried about my labored breathing and thank goodness we got to the vet in time so I could get a shot to make it all stop. Unfortunately I have some scares on my undercoat but I better stop now before I start sounding like a complaining old man dog.

Mom ordered some probiotics to help with my immune system so hopefully I will be back in full swing soon.

I finally got out and this morning Dad took me on my morning walk to see all the weekend people out there. I got to go to my first garage sale and I believe I was more treasured then the antiques.

Yep – that’s right folks I am a looker and there is always a few people who stop and ask the who, what and how gorgeous I am. One little boy even asked if I was for sale.

Thank goodness I have been on my best behavior and Dad didn’t sell me. And who am I kidding anyway?   Those parentals would be lost without me!

OK, it is almost dinnertime I am on a new hypoallergenic food with my raw turkey and broccoli. It has a fancy named and is called Royal Canine Veterinary Diet Selected Protein Adult PD. Dad says we have to try it out to see if that will also help my skin problems. So this dog is going completely wheat and gluten free.

AND I almost forgot – we had a duck visitor in the front yard this afternoon and I went CRAZY since Dad was out there taking pictures and being nice to another creature besides me – can you imagine?  Hasn’t he read that I have duck in my new dog food – he better be careful or else!

June gloom seems to be on hold right now as it was a sunny 73 degrees in Santa Monica today – the Weather Weimariner is back!

A Lazy Sunday and my Pudding Sample

photoHello Campers!

Today was another fun, filled Sunday at what I like to refer to as Casa de Perry. As with all my summer mornings they start of at 5:30 and I am ready to go. However, the parentals think they can sleep in on the weekends but not on my watch.

Mom was busy as she had two back-to-back Motivational Interviewing trainings, so I had to hang out with Dad every day. I went to Dad’s side and yawned really loud in his ear to get his attention. He got up and I gave him some love and we started the morning. He made me be very quiet as to let Mom sleep in a little this morning. I like to have everyone up but I don’t always get my way!

After I had my breakfast I wanted to snuggle under the blanket in my chair with Dad for another hour. I love my cuddle time but just as I was really starting to fall back to sleep my best friend PITA came screeching. That got me all worked up and the house was fully awake.

Then after my walk and saying hi to all my dog pals on the block we came home and Dad started making something in the kitchen. I was so excited as I saw fun items and pans I had not seen in a long time. Something was up and I needed to be a part of it.

He was making tapioca pudding from scratch and the aromas filled the house. I did not leave his side for what seemed like hours while he stirred white stuff in the red pan.

Finally it was done and because I was so good I got to sample the rich pudding. However, because it was so rich Mom was not going to allow Dad to feed me enough since it has a little more sugar than I’m used to – I guess I have to expect that having a dietitian for a Mom.

As for the rest of our life we are cruising along nicely. I almost forgot the weather as I am the Weather Weimaraner and it was a beautiful 72 degrees today!

Love to you all…

Perry but no longer the Puppy

The Country Does Me Good

photo-2So I had a fabulous time in the country – after all, I really am a country dog at heart although I live in the city. I got to RUN and RUN and RUN and it did my heart good, especially since the parentals were a bit tired after their trip. I’ll never get heart disease, although it is rampant in our country.

I made sure Mom gave me my fish oil this week since I had been missing it. I love the Carlson lemon flavor and love to lick it off the spoon. It gives my coat that great shine and ensures I’ll be free of Alzheimer’s disease, and lubricates my joints to help avoid hip dysplasia, which is common in my breed.

Dad is a bit cranky as he is has lots of papers and projects to finish in his last 4 weeks of school so he can graduate with his degree in photography to help with all our books.

Mom is crazy busy with her Motivational Interviewing trainings and had 2 this past week. I wonder whether her participants get treats like I do when I get trained?

I’ve been a bit disappointed as no new recipes to sample this week although Mom gave me a good portion of cheese while she was cutting up some for her afternoon snack.

We all missed the heat wave last week thank goodness and it is a crisp sunny 68 degrees in Santa Monica today. I have to admit we do have the best weather, although the drought here is getting serious. I think my relatives back east should share their water supply.

Peace till next week!

Perry
