I’m Sooo Hungry AND I’m the Biggest in the Litter

I’ve gained 10 pounds in 4 weeks and doubled in size since I came to my new home.  Mom was concerned and called my first Mom to ask about my voracious appetite.

And can you believe it?  I was the runt and now I’m the largest of all my brothers and sisters – just look at my paws!  I had a BIG weekend driving 4 hours to San Luis Obispo and back with Dad and Andrew.  Mom tried to tire me out when I got home but I overheard her and Dad saying what a pistol I am.  After a while I finally settled down for a long winter’s nap…..

Perry Pumpky-Face Goes to Work

My Dad calls my “pumpky-face” since I LOVE the pumpkin he mixes in my food.  It keeps me regular and then I have normal digestion which seems important to my Mom – can’t imagine why.  I’ve doubled in size since I came to my new house – I was only 10 pounds and tonight Mom made me get on the scale and I was 19 pounds!  She told me she was not doing her job so well if I keep gaining weight – again I have no idea what that’s all about.

I went to work with Dad today in the high-rise.  I chewed up one of his client’s contracts so he was not too happy with me – he forgot that paper is one of my favorites.  AND can you believe that building?  I had to be carried in because no four legged creatures are allowed in public spaces.  So I taught them – I shared some yellow fluid at the valet station.

After a long day in the office and what seemed like forever in the car, I finally got dinner and then I decided Mom and Dad were a little too lethargic and needed to be riled up.   I sprawled up between Mom and Dad and here I am sacked out.  That annoying camera flash is interfering with my zzzz’s…

Perry St. Patty’s Day Party

I had my coming out party this weekend!

My Auntie Chris and Audrey invited me to their St. Patrick’s day party but I went thinking it was for me.

Chris and Audrey wanted to meet me and Mom wanted me to meet their 3 cats Doc, Bashful and Thomas O’Malley.  Doc was not feeling too well and Bashful was not crazy about puppies so here I am with Thomas.  I was trying to get him to play but he wasn’t all that interested.

It was a fun party and I liked the humans more than the cats since they were all oohing and awwwing over me.  I heard a few people trying to give my Mom and Dad tips on how to get me to behave better – not sure what that was about since I’m fine the way I am but these humans try to make me behave and use the controller leash.   Hopefully they will grow out of it and remember I’m just Puppy Perry and all I want to do is eat, play, sleep and chew….

Healthy Puppy Food?

So Mom went to that Natural Foods Expo yesterday and I’m eyeing the new treats she brought home – boy, am I lucky.  Lots of fun smells, and the first one she let me taste was a product by Bench & Field called Holistic Natural Canine Treats.  They only have 7 ingredients are are high in protein.  All ingredients are real foods even I can recognize with no preservatives.  The nice man named Mark at the show gave Mom a big bag for me to try – I’m so excited for my new treats!

From Home School to Puppy School

What a day, I don’t know if I should be doing flips or just lay my head down and sleep.

It all started as a normal day.  I start to stretch and make my usual noise around 5 right about the time Mom gets up and puts on my most favorite play toy, the white squishy things she puts on her feet.  Then Dad opens up my door and takes me out for a quick pee in the cold and then we go back inside to sleep another hour.

Then something odd happened and I was not pleased about it.  During breakfast  (which I did not get my full share…that is another story and believe me I was not happy) Dad was cooking something that smelled AMAZING.  I was so hungry and this smell was making me crazy – I later found out it is called bacon.

I was not fine without my usual food AND the smell of this new food so I started lounging toward my Dad’s feet and biting him.  That will teach him to starve me.

After a time out, he got the blue vest thingy he always puts on before we go out the side door.  I saw him put MY food in a little bag that I am not allowed to touch.  Then the blue leash came out (I call it the controller) and we were out the door and in the car.

When we were driving he mentioned that odd word with such passion, “today is your first day at puppy kindergarten”.  What is he talking?  Hey – I’m starving, you have me strapped into the controller and taking me to some strange place.

We finally get to the new place and I see another set of parental units with two very hyper dogs that run up to me.  Darn the controller will not allow me to get away.  They were all up in my business smelling me and just being in my personal space.  This puppy kindergarten doesn’t sound fun.  I don’t know if I like other dogs.  Mom says I’m shy but I just like being at home where I’m trying to be the King.

Next thing I know I am off the controller and 10 dogs of all sizes are running around, drooling and smelling.  The only good thing about this was I was getting lots of pets and attention from the humans.  I heard them saying I’m young and cute so of course I’m a magnet…but these fellow dogs do not impress me one bit.

Then all of a sudden I saw the clicker lady.  She came up to me and asked how I was doing.  “Not well right now clicker lady…I am hungry and want some food”.  Then came the understanding what kindergarten is all about.  Dad put out the mat and I had to sit on it with the controller back on.  For the next 30 minutes it was clicks, lay downs and the dreaded stay.  The only part that was good was the snacks.  Oh the snacks…remember the bacon – I finally got to have some so maybe this was going to be okay.

After about 15 minutes of the clicking and commands I was done – I am way too smart for this. However, the best thing of my morning happened.  During playtime all the other dogs were running wild I just hung out with the people.  As dad was standing there, one of the big dogs went behind him and  peed all over his leg.  Now that is what I call a beautiful first day of school.

Later that evening mom finally came home.  I heard she had gone to something called “The Natural Foods Expo.”  Not that I care about names, but she brought home some SNACKS and most of them were for me.  Mom told me we are going to start trying some of them since they were “healthy for me’ whatever that means.

Healthy or not, I’m tired and want to get some sleep.  Hopefully tomorrow will I will get my usual breakfast and no kindergarten.

Paws,

Perry

Week of Construction…

So things have gotten interesting at my new home.  My new Mom and Dad had some leaks in their potty room and had to get them fixed.  All these new people were in my space.  There were lots of noises and interesting things to sniff and find out about.  I keep hearing all these things to DO and I’m not liking it!

It’s EXHAUSTING being me….I’ve got so many rules to remember……when and where to pee……which items are chew toys (definitely not Dad’s socks or slippers and I LOVE the red ones) and what can I possibly do to earn a treat.   Not to mention, trying to look cute all day so that Mom makes me something special to eat.

I do like how she mixes pumpkin in my kibble.  Mom says it gives me something special called vit-a-mins to help my coat which I thought was just fine but what do I know?  I’m just a puppy.

A Long Night..

After a long exhausting day it was time to go to bed.  I did not want to get off my new Dad’s lap but he made me get up and he put me in this metal thing and I was not happy.  This was not like the place I usually sleep in.  He put a warm towel in my bed along with some new toys but I was not happy, and I was going to show them my lung capacity since I thought they would be softies and put me in their bed.

Huh.  I whined and howled hoping to get out but it did not work.  My new Dad took me out of this metal thing I heard was called a crate every hour or so to go potty.  It was cold and wet outside and I did not like it but I would still go potty and then go and sit by Dad.  He would then pick me up and take me to the warm place and put me in the crate.  I whined most of the night and wondered why my new parents looked so tired the next day.  I’m not sure what’s going to happen next maybe I could get used to this new place.  The jury is still out…
