My New Favorite Toy

photo-1I don’t talk all that much so I was thrilled when Mom got me a talking toy.  Yes, you heard that right.  It’s called a “Babble Ball.”  The funny thing is Mom did not even know it talked till it she brought it home.

She just thought she was getting some cool blue ball for me.  Boy, was she surprised!!

It’s says all kinds of fun things – like “you’re looking nice big doggy,” “oh you got me,”  “hey what are you doing,” and “oh lucky dog.”

Dad says the voice reminds him of  Cousin Itt on some show he used to watch called The Adam’s Family.

I’m just having fun making it talk and irritating the parental units…and this time they were the ones who started it in the first place.  Boy, are they naive!

My First Candy Day

photoI was so excited to find out about “Candy Day.”  I heard from Dad it’s all about love, hearts and romance but who cares about that?  Little did I know that this way over the top commercialized day of showing love would also bring abundance of snacks and delicious treats.

After a long day at day camp, I was excited to receive my own Valentine’s day bag.  My Aunt Stacy at Century City Physical Therapy had given me a bag full of love.  Of course I had to be monitored by the parental units and after just a few morsels the bag was immediately put on top of the refrigerator.

Hmnnn…still trying to figure out how to get up there, but behold one day I will achieve that climb and then nothing will be out of my reach.  OK, back to giving them sad eyes.  Maybe if I am lucky I will have a bedtime scooby snack…

My Small Encounters

One thing Mom and Dad can’t believe is how much I LOVE children.  I forget I’m a puppy and just act docile and quiet when I’m around them.

This week Dad took me for a walk and we ran into a little boy who was shorter than me and he called me “horsey.”

Can you believe that?  I’m not a horse but I guess some little people think I am.

The big/small visitor I had this week was Grey.  He’s 5 months old so I’m not sure why he just chills in his chair.  At 2 months I was running all around the house – I guess that’s why dogs are more advanced than humans.

Chillin’ waiting for my Friends

work, dogs, perry, scotch, Centinela Feed, daycare, playing, resting, weimaranerAs a typical day goes, I have to be at what my Dad calls “the days” which is doggie day camp at Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies.

My friend Wendy Rios took this awesome picture of me – don’t I look handsome?  Things have been as usual busy around the house.

Dad is creating recipes for the new cookbook which I’m pleased about since I get some extra scooby snacks.

It was pretty exciting last night as I was going out to do my business before bed and out of the corner of my eyes I saw something saunter across the back yard and instantly I flew off the front porch and had IT’S tail in my mouth.

Mom and Dad were screaming “drop it” as I was running around trying to catch it.  It ran into the bushes and Dad was trying to pull my tail as I was trying to pull what they called the possum’s tail.  It was beyond thrilling – and that’s why it’s never a dull moment in the Dopart/Batchelor household.

It’s my Birthday Week

IMG-20130108-00914I was ONE year old this week on Wednesday – can you believe it?

I heard Dad mumbling to himself that he wished I was already 2 – something about me calming down (???)

For starters I got to share some of Dad’s berry smoothie – oh SO yummy.

Dad complains about having to eat breakfast (something I NEVER complain about since I’m ready to eat at all times) but decided to have a protein packed smoothie on my birthday.

I was glad to share it with him since it has ground flax seeds full of omega 3 fats to make my coat shiny, lots of phytochemicals in the berries so I can live a long healthy life and protein for energy so I can drive the parental units more insane than I already do.

Then I got to go on a big boy walk with Dad.  I’m looking so grown-up now I can hardly stand it. I look more grown up than I act but maybe by next birthday my behavior will have caught up with my age.

I’m Just Trying to be Helpful

IIMG_3105t’s been raining here more than I like.  I know we need the rain and I admit I love water but it makes the yard muddy and since I don’t have all that much fur getting wet makes me cold.  We know I don’t like the cold and avoid it at all costs.  Dad was trying to clean up in the yard so I decided it was time for me to pull my weight (all 80 pounds) so I followed him around trying to be helpful but I was a little disruptive and Dad put the lease on me.  It was okay since we got to play a little bit.

photoLater I thought I would save him time and check his email for him.  Since I don’t know how to type it was challenging but checking counts, right?  Things have finally calmed down but I have yet to be invited to the new office but I may get to make my debut next week.  I’m told I have to “behave” as if that counts.  Slowly I am learning how to be a civilized dog – I do drop things when I’m cornered, I did bring the mail to Dad yesterday when he asked me to, and today when Dad left to go to work I went in the crate all by MYSELF without having to be told to – imagine that?  I may turn out to be a good dog after all…

I Just Want to Eat Breakfast at the Big Table

photoMom and Dad always eat at the breakfast table while I’m made to eat my breakfast in a bowl on the kitchen floor.  It’s really not fair.  I maintain a healthy diet like Mom tells me to – I eat my protein, fruits, veggies and good fats.  Broccoli and mexican guavas are my favorites and I’ll do anything for cheese – especially European Cheese Mom cuts up for her lunches  so why can’t I eat breakfast at the table too?!

This morning while Mom was putting her breakfast together I decided it was finally time to start this tradition so I climbed up into her chair and as you can see I fit just fine.  I was only a little cramped – hence the little bit of sadness in my eyes since the side of the chair was slightly hurting my hip – but not too bad and it was all worth it to be here enjoying the view of what was on the table.

It’s too bad Mom and Dad decided not to get one of those funny looking trees people apparently get at this time of year since I would have had LOTS of fun with those little hanging things.  I found one Dad put out and ran around with it in my mouth – boy did he get mad.

Apparently it was one of Mom’s special Eddie Walker ornaments – I’ll have to be more prepared for those next year since it was put away immediately.  If you have any to share, bring them over but I can’t promise to give them back…

Puppy Play for the Holidays

IMG-20121209-00850Hello out there!  Hope you are all enjoying your holidays because apparently I am going to get coal in my stocking.  What on earth is Dad talking about?  I just hope it is hard and I can chew on it.  This all started a few days ago when I was absolutely doing nothing.  I mean it is not my fault they left their bedroom door open a little.  You know I can open doors.  I love to take a running start and just power punch the door open.  It is one of my favorites.

Well I did this and had free range of their room.  Oh how I love the fluffy bed and pillows.  It’s like an obstacle course in there.  They have this cool rug and I just had this compulsion to start to dig at it.  Boy you would have though I had eaten a hole in the wall.  I mean I think I added some stringing texture to that thing.  Dad seemed less than impressed and said he needed a time out from me. Can you believe that?

Then later I was chasing after that PITA of a squirrel and came galloping back into the house sharing that I had chased him out of the yard.  It has been raining down here and the yard was muddy.  I love water and mud!  I think it’s in my bones since I got really excited and like I said came barreling through the house barking and running.  I forgot to wipe my feet and just tracked in a little of the mud.   Dad seems to only want a clean floor – I guess he did not think about that when he decided to get a Weimaraner now, did he?

On another note I am now 11 months old and weigh 80 pounds.  I am loving life and feel blessed by my land of beds so I must be doing something right.

It’s Been a LONG Week

And a fun one.  I got to go to puppy camp or daycare as Dad calls it for a few days since Dad had a big job.  I was excited since there were 2 dogs there that looked just like me – imagine that!  I do not know any Weimaraner’s so that was a treat and we played all day till I got picked up.

Mom’s office is almost done and I can’t wait to go visit since, after all, I am in the lease.  Mom said I have to mind my peas and carrots before I’m allowed.  Lori took me for a walk today and gave me a good report card – I’m waiting better, heeling more and in general a better dog.  Mom and Dad had their doubts but something shifted inside me this week and maybe I’m ready to behave more often.  I tend to be a bit moody so it depends on the day but I’m trying to be a good Santa Monica citizen.

Here’s me waiting patiently to go outside so you can see what I’m talking about….

I Love the Mazes and Hear there’s a Rumor….

Things have changed in our house.  Apparently Mom and Dad wanted to fix some stuff but it’s all good to me.  I’ve been getting through the barriers and running all around in circles looking for new and interesting things.

There’s no doors on anything so I’m FREE to go wherever I want – it’s like heaven!  I do love feeling like I am part of the family and eating breakfast at the table but I’m starting to realize that is not an option based on reactions by Mom and Dad.

Dad was watering the lawn and plants yesterday and I LOVE running in the water and playing with the hose.  Needless to say we were both very dirty.  Dad decided to put me immediately in the tub.  I love it when I get a “shampoo and set.”

After all being all clean and content I overheard them talk about making a list of the items they wanted me to be able to DO.  Who on earth makes a checklist about that at 8 months old?  Then Dad said something about being there at 10 am on Thursday.  Another long car ride?  Ugh – I can wait to see what this one’s about…
