I was JUST trying to help water

This morning was very busy.  Mom and Dad went to the gym to try and get in shape to keep up with me – I’m not sure that is possible but I don’t blame them for wanting to try.

When they got home Mom was trying to make breakfast and Dad was trying to read the paper since I try to prevent that from happening most mornings – remember ALL the attention needs to be on ME!  They were ignoring me so I decided to run outside and help with watering.  When I go outside that usually gets their attention since they don’t want me eating rocks – not sure why (???)

I got the watering thingy and dumped it and ran all over the yard.  They did not flinch so I jumped on the chair.  Somehow this theft did not phase them either.  I guess their age has gotten to them so why go to the gym after all?

Rock ON

You cannot believe how my weekend turned out.  First off Dad has been working a lot so he came home in a grumpy mood but I used my charm on him and we had some good time playing.  Then I heard Auntie Chris was coming over for dinner – ut-oh – that means I’ll have to be in my crate with what seems like forever!  I had a fun time with her and now she says she likes dogs too (Mom says she’s a cat person but maybe I’ll convert her to dogs with enough visits!)

They got home and then I heard Dad call me into the bedroom.  The dreaded crate – again – I already spent 2 hours in it tonight.  But to my surprise he had me get in the “big boy bed.”  Then I heard Mom and him arguing that I could not be trusted out of the crate at night. Thank goodness Dad won the argument and I got to sleep in my new bed – us guys were sticking together.

I slept so sound in my new bed – I could stretch out without getting hit by the sides of the crate since I’m SOOO big now.  Mom and Dad were sleeping soundly too and Dad was snoring and then….I felt this bad pain in my tummy and the big rock I ate yesterday came hurling out.  Mom and Dad looked like they had seen a ghost!  I heard Dad say I could have died.  What do they expect since I have to have something to chew on since my baby teeth are falling out and new ones coming in every day?  Now I have to be watched every moment in the yard too!  So much for independence.

Mom was GONE and Dad Irritated Me

Mom had to go away AGAIN to Kansas City.  I have no idea where that is but it was something to do with beef –  I think it’s similar to the Bully Sticks Mom buys me when she wants me to behave.

I don’t like it when Mom is gone since I have no schedule – I have to get my OWN vitamin off the counter, I can’t get in to the refrigerator to get my fish oil and yogurt and Dad is busy using that big black box to take pictures…I can’t figure out why he takes so many pictures – who needs them anyway?
Since Dad was not paying enough attention to ME and working with Uncle Andrew on pictures AGAIN I showed him.  I stole his “prop” as he calls it since it is my favorite food with the crowns and ran to the couch.  I love it when he chases me but this time he just followed me with the black box.  Later on I stole the toilet paper and shredded it and THAT got his attention.
The game was not over since he put the controller thing on me so after he took it off I went and hid it.  Thank goodness Mom came home last night.  I heard Dad has to work all weekend so maybe I can terrorize her while she’s trying to unpack.  After all, I’m puppy Perry and that’s what puppies do best.

I LOVE the Little Crowns

Mom was chopping up my favorite vegetable for dinner and I decided I wanted some too – they always leave me out and it’s high time I eat what they do!  Mom calls it broccoli but I call it the little crowns.  I took part of it she was throwing in the garbage and ran in the back yard.

For some odd reason she didn’t chase me this time so I came in and quietly ate in on the kitchen floor.  I guess this is not as bad for me as when I steal the toilet paper – not sure why since they are both full of fiber, right?  Remember my Mom is a nutritionist so I picked up a few things since I’ve been here for the last 12 weeks.

Mother’s Day had LOTS of Action

It’s been a busy day – Dad had me go out and search for a Mother’s Day Card for Mom and I finally found one and here I am bringing it to her in the early hours of the morning.

Dad had to go to work today and Mom had to work at home so I got a BIG treat she’s been saving  –  a MOO! Bully Stick that’s made of grass-fed meat – gives me more of the omega 3’s I love so much.  It is a great babysitter for me while she’s getting some work done.

However, what Mom did not realize is an expected visitor was going to show up to play with me and he was so nice.  We thought he had lost his home so Mom called Santa Monica animal control and they came in 5 minutes.  Little did she know it was the neighbors’ dog Kojo.

He just wandered over since he knew I needed some play time – I guess we’ll have to invite him back since Mom knows who he is now….

Perry’s first day at Puppy Day Care

I went to my first day at doggie day care at a place a few blocks from our house called FitDog Sports Club.  Mom and Dad were not sure if I would be okay but I was very excited to go and play with other dogs.  Dad dropped me off and I played and played so much so that when Mom picked me up she did not recognize me.  I did not jump on her but calmly let her take me to the car.

I slept on the way home and then went straight to my bed.  I was never so happy to be home.  When I went to the bathroom later on Dad left the gate open by mistake and I just went to the side door – I never saw Mom so happy to see me.  Here I am all sacked out.  I got a good report card and here it is.

Even with Being Fabulous and Popular I still have a Nemesis

Today with an interesting day.  It first started out with a brisk walk and lots of fetch time all before 9 in the morning.  I thought “WHAT is going on?”  Then I heard the parental units talking about trying to tire me out before my “appointment” at the Doggie Day Care.

I was going to have a behavioral assessment and Dad was wanted me to pass.  We then rode in the car and went to this new place where they had 2 sides:  one for little purse dogs and puppies and one for big dogs.  Dad said to put me with the big dogs since I’m almost 40 pounds and then he left.  I had fun time and then after 2 hours he picked me up.  BUT I did something good since I got an award and was “approved” to come back.  Boy, I sure fooled them.

When I got home I was so proud, strutting my stuff in the yard.  AND then all of a sudden, IT appeared.  That little thing running back and forth on the fence flicking it’s tail and taunting me.  I’m calling that thing PITA….you know pain in the ….

Well, after barking and screaming at the thing it would not move and was beyond frustrating.  Dad said I was not living up to my certificate of good behavior and took me inside since I was becoming his PITA.  Another day, another adventure….

They call me MISCHEVIOUS

I know where I’m supposed to be and what to do but I know have options – I can behave and the house will be calm and boring. OR I can go where I know I’m not allowed and pick up things I’m not supposed to and Mom and Dad will run after me or chase me off the furniture – it’s SO much more fun!

Yesterday I took Mom’s underwear and ran in the back yard – both Mom and Dad were trying to get me and I just ran around and around till they gave up. Eventually Mom got her underwear back.  Today I decided it was “couch” time – so I jumped up on the couch.  I know I can go to the comfy chair but it’s just no fun since I’m already allowed there.

This afternoon I decided to take one of Dad’s plants out of the pot and run around the yard with the pot.  Dad had to lay down since he had a headache.  Maybe I’m tiring them out too much.  I’d better behave tonight or else dinner may be late.  They have to remember I’m just a puppy but I guess I have to remember they are not spring chickens…

My Unconventional Snacks

If you want to know what I’ve been doing lately,  just take a look at the pile Dad is collecting of the things I sneak into the house.  I have actually picked up each and every one of these items and brought them into the house in the last week.  I’m not very happy with Dad right now since he’s put MY stuff out of reach on top of the water heater outside.  However, I found a new thing to do and it’s even more fun to watch my parental units go crazy when I can reach up and take things off the kitchen counter.

The ultimate fun I had was when Dad caught me standing on top of the patio table.  It was awesome because I got an ink pen and chewed that up inside getting blue ink on some house things.

However, they are still trying to make me a show dog.  Here’s the latest – my entry in eating Mountain High Yogurt (see page 6) my FAVORITE food of all time.  I love my morning yogurt.  Mom thinks it’s odd that I like the same breakfast food she eats but the apple does not fall far from the tree…

Play date and Training with Brinkley and Rita

It was a big day today.  Yesterday I was naughty and getting into everything or as Mom calls it I had a “witching” day.  Today I was being pretty good but Mom decided to take me over to Auntie Patsy’s house for some training and play time.

Rita and Brinkley are older than me and are role models for how to be good in this thing they call life.

Brinkley was trying to teach me not to bite and I finally gave in and let him be the leader.

When we got home Dad tried to work with getting me to “come” with lead training  (as you can see he’s not very capable of controlling the training because I thought it was fun getting all tangled up.)  What is it with all this training?  Why can’t they just let me bite, and come when I want to?

So many rules around this Dopart-Batchelor household.  Dad says he’s trying to get me in good shape before I need to travel to Grandma and Grandpa Batchelor’s house so I can be on my bestest behavior and come back for multiple visits.
